Absolutely not! Let me explain how the tank is set up. A sensor with a digital display is placed into the tank covered by a clean white towel. Then the basalt stones are place on top of the towel. The dial on the tank is set to heat up the stones. I usually bring my stones up to 125* - 135*. The temperature is controlled at all times. If I can not hold the stone in my hand, you will not be massaged with it. It’s that simple. If you are heat sensitive, that must be related to me before the treatment begins. In this case I can maintain the temperature as close to 125 degrees. There are some individuals that like the stones hot. So I will maintain the temperature at 140-145. That is the max. On the consent form, it clearly states that you must interact with me and tell me if temperature is to hot, too cold, or pressure is too much or to little. When alternating temperatures are used, you will not feel the heat and the cold to much because the stones are not left on the body. Enough oil is placed on the body so that the stones will glide easily and quickly. There are 3 types of cold stones starting with the coldest is Marble, then Sardonyx and Jade. The only time a cold stone is left on the body under my supervision is when muscles are inflamed. That feels wonderful and relieving. When hot and cold stones are used together, it gives you a very energetic and exhilarating feeling. My clients love it when I do that on the back (posterior) of the body.
